Training: Video Compression in FCP course in London, 16th - 17th May 2011

Final Cut Studio techniques to improve the look of your video

Skillset funding available on this course, details here:
This course will give editors and post production staff the ability to utilise content to its maximum benefit across different platforms and to different briefs. Using the industry standard editing and production tools inside Final Cut Studio, it covers technical information about the best exporting methods (codecs and compression), as well as addressing creative issues about multi-purposing content for different platforms.
The Video Optimisation and Compression course covers a range of techniques to improve the quality of video footage and to give guidelines on the best way to compress clips. My style of training is hands-on, so each participant will be learning- by-doing as well as from instruction. I like to engage with the concept of solving problems before they happen, which helps enormously when you are at the sharp end of a deadline with a video to encode.
Simon Walker, course tutor.
The course was really good! It definitely confirmed my expectations in that it applied directly to the sort of work I'm doing here in BBC Post. Its great to have a clearer understanding of this and also to take further advantage of all the various programmes that are available as part of the Final Cut Pro suite. The 2 days were great but I would say it has given me a taste for more now.
Zoe Rixon, BBC
Working with compression everyday, it was great to have its science and methods broken down and explained in a very thorough and enjoyable way. Since the course I have found my workflow considerably improved.
Guy Hancock, Rushes Postproduction Ltd.
Really informative, excellent presentation, and very well prepped course. Excellent handout pack too.
