I'm running my Compression and Optimising course again on the 4th and 6th January 2011 in London. It's subsidised by SkillSet - here's some more info about it on the Ravensbourne site, and here's a detailed rundown of the course itself: Video Optimising Course Outline (pdf)
I've run this course for the last couple of years in Soho, for various clients including Sony, Vodafone and the Natural History Museum and I've had some great response:
“The video optimising course was really good! It definitely confirmed my expectations in that it applied directly to the sort of work I'm doing here in BBC Post. Its great to have a clearer understanding of this and also to take further advantage of all the various programmes that are available as part of the Final Cut Pro suite. The 2 days were great but I would say it’s given me a taste for more now.” Zoe Rixon, BBC Post
I approach the area of compression from both a technical and practical viewpoint using Final Cut Studio and also by looking at other programs available for compressing files in multiple formats. I've got a set format for the things I've found that are most useful during production, but bring your productions problems with you! If you've got a troublesome clip or workflow then bring the files along, and we'll work together to make your encoded video look as good as possible.
